Multinational consumer goods giant Unilever has selected Salvo Grima Group as its regional distributor for a range of ambient consumer goods in Uganda.
The Malta-headquartered company, which operates in eight countries across Europe and Africa and distributes to 50 markets, specialises in delivering fast-moving consumer goods to emerging markets on behalf of leading multinational manufacturers.
The new appointment builds on Salvo Grima Group’s existing operations in neighbouring Rwanda, where it serves as Unilever’s national distributor. There, the group supplies over 7,000 client outlets and exports to nearby markets including Burundi and the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“We are honoured to be entrusted with this prestigious project by Unilever and we are pleased to extend our reach further into East Africa,” said Group Chief Executive Officer Karl Aquilina. “We are committed to maintaining the world-class standards of multinational brands, bringing quality products steadily to consumers in this fast-growing region.”
Aquilina also thanked Luck Ochieng, Managing Director at Unilever East Africa, and his team for “believing in us and giving us this opportunity to launch operations in Uganda.”
Salvo Grima Group, which employs a multinational team of over 250 people, traces its roots back to 1860.
