Several Marsa-based companies have teamed up to launch The Heartbeat Drive, a new collaborative initiative in support of the National Blood Donation Centre.
The project, which organisers hope will become an annual tradition, is designed to strengthen community ties while making it easier for the Centre to deploy its mobile donation unit by pooling employees from multiple businesses in one location.
“This project is about more than donating blood – it’s about businesses joining forces to achieve a shared goal,” a spokesperson said. “We hope this grows year on year, so we can make an even greater impact and inspire larger CSR initiatives amongst businesses based in Marsa.”
The first edition of The Heartbeat Drive was held at the MMGH Complex on 25 and 26 September, where 55 people donated blood in a practical and symbolic act of solidarity.
Participating organisations included Salvo Grima Group, Alf Mizzi & Sons Marketing Group, Hili Ventures, M&Z p.l.c, Burmarrad Group and MMGH Ltd.
Organisers stressed that while the impact of a single blood donation can be life-saving, the initiative’s true strength lies in collective action and the potential for sustained, long-term support for the National Blood Donation Centre.
