MaltaPost has been awarded Gold in the Social Impact Award (26+ Employees) category at the Malta Business Awards 2025, held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. The award recognises businesses that deliver exceptional initiatives in support of society and local communities, creating meaningful, lasting impact.
The winning initiative was MaltaPost’s long-standing social project operated through Tanseana, its wholly owned subsidiary. Established a decade ago, the Tanseana Project provides real, sustained employment opportunities for persons with different abilities – particularly individuals residing in Gozo – while fostering a workplace built on accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity.
What began ten years ago as a modest initiative has grown into one of Malta’s most impactful inclusion programmes. At the Document Management Services (DMS) Centre in Xewkija, most employees are persons with varying disabilities who are fully integrated into daily operations. They receive ongoing training, coaching, and support from JobsPlus and the Lino Spiteri Foundation, enabling them to build confidence, independence, and long-term employment skills.
The DMS Centre has also become a model of effective public-private collaboration, demonstrating how structured support and meaningful work can transform lives and uplift families. Many relatives of employees have reported greater self-esteem and personal development among their loved ones, while the project itself has helped reshape expectations around the capabilities of persons with disabilities.
On receiving the award, MaltaPost CEO Joseph Gafá expressed pride in the company’s achievement.
“This recognition reflects the collective dedication of our people, who work tirelessly to serve the community with integrity, care, and innovation. Our commitment to social responsibility has always been at the heart of our operations, and this motivates us to continue expanding the Tanseana programme and creating more opportunities for individuals with different abilities.”
The recognition marks another significant milestone for MaltaPost, reaffirming the company’s role not just as a national postal service provider, but as a socially committed organisation shaping a more inclusive future for Malta and Gozo.
