Health Minister Ian Borg has met with Dr Selwyn Vickers, President and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, for discussions centred on advances in cancer research and potential opportunities for collaboration.

The meeting explored developments in cancer research, including the transformative potential of data and predictive oncology, as well as the role scientific progress continues to play in addressing cancer.

Data And Predictive Oncology Among Areas Discussed

During the meeting, Minister Borg and Dr Vickers discussed advances in cancer research and how emerging approaches involving data and predictive oncology could contribute to the field.

Minister Borg highlighted Malta’s determination to learn from institutions with greater experience and resources, while remaining open to exploring how the country could contribute to cancer research on an international level.

Exploring Collaboration With Memorial Sloan Kettering

The discussions also looked towards potential opportunities for closer collaboration between Malta and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Minister Borg said he looks forward to continuing the conversation and exploring meaningful opportunities for cooperation with the institution.

The meeting places international collaboration, knowledge-sharing and innovation at the centre of Malta’s ongoing discussions around cancer research.
