The French luxury hospitality brand Bagatelle is set to open in Malta as part of DB Group’s development on the former ITS site at St George’s Bay.
While details of the project remain limited, industry sources have confirmed that the venue will include a Bagatelle beach club, marking the brand’s first presence in Malta.
Founded in New York in 2008 by French entrepreneurs Rémi Laba and Aymeric Clemente, Bagatelle has grown into a global brand known for its distinctive blend of French-Mediterranean dining and lively social atmosphere.
Its venues – which include Saint-Tropez, Dubai, London, Miami, Mykonos and Tulum – are designed to reflect a contemporary take on the French Riviera lifestyle.
Bagatelle’s philosophy centres on joie de vivre – the enjoyment of life through shared food, conviviality and celebration. Its restaurants and beach clubs typically serve refined Mediterranean dishes in settings that transition from daytime dining to a more vibrant, music-driven evening ambience.
The St George’s Bay development, currently under construction on the former Institute of Tourism Studies site, is one of Malta’s largest private projects. Plans include a Hard Rock Hotel, luxury residences, retail outlets and entertainment spaces overlooking St George’s Bay. The project has been in progress for several years and has drawn both support and criticism due to its scale and location.
Bagatelle’s addition to the development signals continued international interest in Malta’s high-end hospitality sector, which has seen a steady influx of global brands in recent years.
Further details, including opening timelines and design concepts for the Malta venue, have yet to be announced.
