RSM Malta has strengthened its collaboration with RSM Japan following a series of high-level engagements held in Malta, underscoring the growing importance of cross-border advisory within the global network.

The visit by Kengo Maekawa, Managing Partner and CEO of RSM Shiodome Partners, focused on aligning the two firms’ strategic priorities around international growth, advisory capabilities and client service across jurisdictions.

Discussions were led by Karen Spiteri Bailey, who highlighted Malta’s positioning within the RSM network as a platform for internationally oriented advisory services.

A key part of the visit included a meeting at The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, bringing together representatives from the private sector, trade promotion bodies and Malta’s English language and education ecosystem.

The discussions explored opportunities in executive learning, professional development and international immersion programmes, particularly leveraging Malta’s established role as an English-language education hub.

Participants also examined potential channels for youth mobility and working holiday exchanges between Malta and Japan, as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties.

Beyond external engagement, Maekawa also held internal sessions with RSM Malta teams, sharing insights from the Asia-Pacific region and contributing to the integration of operational practices across the network.

The collaboration reflects a wider trend among professional services firms to deepen cross-border capabilities as clients increasingly operate across multiple jurisdictions.

For Malta, the engagement highlights its role as a gateway for international advisory services, particularly for firms looking to connect European markets with Asia.
