Equities (Shares)

33 companies having a combined total market capitalization of around €5 billion. The largest sector is Financial Services representing over €2 billion in market capitalization.

The property sector is represented by 11 companies having a combined market value of over €500 million.

Trading activity in the last 12 months amounted to just over €68 million which include sizable trades in Tigne Mall plc.

The largest company is Bank of Valletta plc with a market capitalization of close to €1 billion.

The second largest company is Malta International Airport plc having a market value of around €800 million (when including unlisted shares)

Corporate Bonds

There are 70 corporate bond issuers, including one which is listed on the Green Bond List (ClearFlowPlus plc, a subsidiary of Water Services Corporation).

The total nominal outstanding amount is at around €2.66 billion.

Trading activity in the last 12 months amounted to €109 million (record levels).

The largest issuer group is the Corinthia Group (IHI, MIH and CPHCL Finance) having €390 million nominal in bonds.

Hili Ventures Group (Hili Finance Company, Premier Capital, Hili Properties, 1923 Investments) is the second largest group having €364 million nominal.

Government Stocks

There are 71 outstanding Malta Government Stocks with maturities ranging from 2024 to 2052 representing a combined issuance of €8.93 billion.

Trading activity in the last 12 months amounted to around €170 million, the highest level in three years.

Treasury Bills

These are short-term (typically 91 days, but can be up to 1 year) Government funding instruments, issued weekly via auction.

As at the end of August 2024, the outstanding balance amounted to €428 million.
