Malta Airport’s VIP Terminal has received international recognition after earning an Honourable Mention at the 2026 International Architecture Awards.
The recognition celebrates a space designed to bring together privacy, comfort and seamless travel, while offering guests a refined introduction to Malta – or a memorable final impression before leaving the islands.
A Maltese Touch From Arrival To Departure
The VIP Terminal combines contemporary design with details inspired by Malta, creating an experience that extends beyond the typical airport environment.
Guests can make use of private terraces and light-filled lounges, while curated works by local artists introduce elements of Malta’s creative identity throughout the space.
The terminal also incorporates reconstituted Maltese limestone, further connecting its architecture and interiors with the islands’ distinctive visual character.
That sense of place continues through the hospitality experience, with seasonal cuisine forming part of the service offered to guests.
Together, these elements are intended to create an environment where privacy and comfort sit alongside a distinctly Maltese identity.
International Recognition For The VIP Experience
The Honourable Mention at the 2026 International Architecture Awards places the terminal’s design on an international stage, recognising the approach taken to creating a premium airport experience.
From its architecture and locally influenced materials to art, food and private spaces, each element contributes towards giving travellers a carefully considered first or last experience of Malta.
For Malta Airport, the recognition highlights how the journey through the islands can begin before visitors even leave the airport – and continue right up until their departure.
