In a recent sit-down with MeetInc, we spoke to Milan Kratina, Co-Founder and the Chairman of the Board of the Accolade Industrial Fund, and Chris Casapinta, Director of Accolade Industrial Fund Malta, about their expanding footprint across Europe and their decision to set up shop on the island. It was a wide-ranging discussion on real estate, investment strategy, and the strategic importance of Malta in a fast-evolving European landscape.
Founded over a decade ago, the Accolade Industrial Fund has grown into one of Europe’s leading industrial real estate funds. With a portfolio valued at €1.94 billion, The Fund is currently encompassing over 2 million square metres of leasable area across 36 industrial parks in six European countries, including Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands and Spain. Tenants include major players from the fields of logistics, retail and e-commerce, and light production, namely brands such Amazon, DHL, Siemens, InPost, KION, Bridgestone and others.
The Malta connection is more than symbolic. As Milan explained, “We were attracted to Malta for its strong regulatory framework, EU membership, and openness to international capital. But what sealed the deal was the talent pool and financial ecosystem.” Malta, with its English-speaking workforce, strategic location, and business-friendly climate, provided a compelling platform for the Fund’s next phase of growth.
Chris Casapinta, who leads the Fund’s Maltese presence, noted how their recent investor briefing held in Malta was both a milestone and a message. “We’re here to stay,” he said, highlighting the Fund’s commitment to attracting local investors and building strong ties with the Maltese financial sector. “Being regulated under the MFSA gives us the credibility we need in both local and European markets. We’re not here for a short-term gain—we’re here to build a long-term relationship with the market.”
For Kratina, whose journey began with a vision to modernise business infrastructure across continental Europe, Malta offers a chance to connect southern Europe with broader international ambitions. “We’re not just investing in square metres—we’re investing in communities and long-term partnerships,” he explained. His vision has always been about more than bricks and mortar. “From day one, we wanted to transform how industrial space is perceived—from grey boxes to smart, sustainable infrastructure that serves the economy.”
One of the key aspects discussed was the ESG strategy at the heart of Accolade Industrial Fund’s portfolio investment approach. All of the managed facilities are BREEAM or DGNB certified, and their industrial parks incorporate green spaces, energy-efficient design, and community engagement. Milan elaborated: “It’s not enough to grow fast—you have to grow responsibly. ESG isn’t a trend; it’s the foundation for long-term value.”
Chris added that Maltese investors are increasingly sophisticated in this regard. “There’s a new generation of investors here who want to know where their money is going—not just in terms of returns, but in terms of values. That fits perfectly with the Fund’s ethos.”
Both Milan and Chris believe that Malta has the potential to serve as a financial and operational hub for European funds, especially in niche segments like industrial and infrastructure. The Maltese arm of the Fund is licensed and regulated by the MFSA, a detail both men describe as essential to their credibility and future plans.
“The Fund is built on transparency, compliance, and scale,” Chris noted. “And Malta is the ideal environment for all three.”
With their low-profile yet high-impact strategy, setting up Accolade Industrial Funds’s representation in Malta could be a signal of more sophisticated international investment flows into the island. As Chris concluded: “We see this as just the beginning.”
