Apple has officially unveiled HomeView, a new smart home hub that brings entertainment, communication and home controls together on a single dedicated display.
The device sits at the heart of what Apple describes as its most ambitious smart home push to date. It launches alongside the HomePod mini 2, a refreshed Apple TV 4K and a new line of accessories sold under the Apple Home Collection banner.
Apple positions HomeView as a shared household device rather than a personal one. It is built around Siri-powered interaction and offers at-a-glance access to media, information and connected home controls, functioning as the primary interface for an expanding ecosystem of smart home accessories. That ecosystem now includes cameras, locks, thermostats and sensors developed in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
Camera feeds from the Apple Home Collection can be viewed directly on HomeView, and doorbell alerts can surface across connected Apple devices. Chimes can play through HomeView itself or through a HomePod or HomePod mini elsewhere in the home. Apple says all camera footage and home data is protected by end-to-end encryption.
The HomePod mini 2, announced at the same time, carries an S10 chip and brings updated Siri AI capabilities to Apple's compact speaker line.
One significant limitation accompanies the launch. Apple has confirmed that HomeView will not go on sale in the European Union at launch, because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the region. The company says it is working with EU authorities to find a path forward, though no timeline has been given.
Taken together, the HomeView hub, the refreshed HomePod mini and the new accessories line suggest Apple is treating the smart home as a genuine growth category rather than a secondary concern. The EU regulatory gap leaves a key market waiting, and how quickly Apple can resolve that will shape how far the ambition travels.
