SD Holdings Limited, the holding company of Malta’s db Group, has posted a post-tax profit of €17.4 million for the financial year ending 31st March, alongside a net dividend payout of €4.8 million, according to company accounts published this week.

The post-tax figure represents a modest dip from the €18.6 million recorded the previous year, though the broader picture is strongly positive. EBITDA surged 86 per cent year-on-year to €66.7 million, while total revenue climbed 12 per cent to €111.3 million. Total assets grew by a quarter to €750 million, and cash reserves stood at €98.5 million – enough for the group’s directors to conclude there are no material uncertainties surrounding its operational future. Hotel occupancy edged up to 87 per cent.

The results arrive as the group’s St George’s Bay development in St Julian’s nears completion. The Hard Rock Café at the site opened earlier this month, with the hotel itself expected to follow next month. Once fully operational, the project will offer 394 rooms, 15 dining and nightlife concepts and a 3,000 square-metre Rock Spa. Total investment has reached €260 million, according to the group’s financial statements, with several outlets at the accompanying shopping mall already trading.

International ambitions are also gathering pace. The group described the opening of AKI London, its first overseas restaurant, as a significant milestone. That push looks set to accelerate further: a joint venture with RAK Hospitality Holding will see db Group develop a Hard Rock Hotel and Residences in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, with an opening targeted for 2028.

To support its continued expansion, the group has launched a €60 million unsecured bond issuance programme maturing in February 2031, carrying a coupon interest rate of 5.2 per cent.

Directors expressed confidence in the group’s financial position, pointing to what they described as excellent results across the last financial year as the business heads into a particularly active period of growth both at home and abroad.
