YE RETURNS TO THE CATWALK WITH YEEZY SEASON 01 IN LOS ANGELES

Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, staged his first Yeezy fashion show in more than four years on Wednesday, presenting Yeezy Season 01 at Droam 1, the brand's flagship store on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles. The collection brought men's and women's looks back to the catwalk after a four-year gap.

Instead of a conventional runway, models walked in circles around a large white hill. The clothes were mostly minimal and monochromatic. The rapper Nettspend was among those modelling. Guests included 2 Chainz, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Natalie Nunn, the Clermont Twins, ASAP Nast, Sab Zada and Jerry Lorenzo. Ye's daughter North West and his wife Bianca Censori also turned up.

The show, streamed on Kick by Neon, used what appeared to be several unreleased Ye songs in its soundtrack. The lyrics to one ran, "I went through your likes/Who the hell is Ike?… I went through your phone/Who the hell is Tone?"

The presentation lands as the brand slowly puts itself back in front of the public. Yeezy partnered with JD Sports to release the Yeezy 800 sneaker this holiday season, building on an earlier arrangement under which JD Sports stocked Yeezy Slides and other footwear. A range of Yeezy items has also been on sale through the brand's website.

The last Yeezy fashion show took place in Paris in 2022. That showcase drew heavy criticism after Ye wore a black t-shirt carrying the phrase "White Lives Matter" in white lettering on the back. Weeks later, Adidas ended its partnership with him, pointing to his behaviour and remarks. Gap had already cut ties the month before.

Ye has spent 2026 trying to rebuild his image. The effort started with a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal, in which he apologised for his antisemitic remarks and wrote about the effect of bipolar disorder on his life.
