Valletta-based practice Valentino Architects has achieved outstanding success at the Premju Emanuele Luigi Galizia 2025 Awards, receiving multiple awards across categories and the prestigious President’s Award for Best Overall Project.
The studio was recognised with the Hospitality Design Award for the Malta International Airport VIP Terminal and the Single Dwelling Design Award for Dar iċ-Ċitru. In recognition of the practice’s consistent excellence and breadth of work, the jury awarded Valentino Architects the President’s Award for Best Overall Project — this year attributed not to a single work, but to the firm itself, celebrating its collective achievement across several finalist projects.
Alongside their winning entries, Dar San Rokku (Adaptive Renovation Category) and Stilla San Lazzru Guesthouse (Hospitality Design Category) were also finalists, reflecting the practice’s distinctive sensitivity to context, materiality, and reuse.
A particular highlight of this year’s awards was the Malta International Airport VIP Terminal, commended for its architectural approach of deconstruction rather than demolition. The project’s innovative reuse of Maltese stone, both as fabric and narrative element, exemplifies Valentino Architects’ commitment to sustainability and continuity through design.
The Premju Emanuele Luigi Galizia, organised by the Kamra tal-Periti, is Malta’s national platform celebrating excellence and impact in the built environment. Established in 2018, it recognises the creative, technical, and cultural contributions of the architectural profession. The 2025 edition highlights projects completed in the past five years, focusing on key national themes such as housing, heritage, sustainability, infrastructure, and the public realm, while also celebrating emerging talent and influential practitioners.
