MeetInc Sits Down With Pierre-Etienne Cizeron: Driving Epic Malta’s Next Phase of Connectivity

As part of MeetInc’s ongoing series highlighting the leaders shaping Malta’s business landscape, we sat down with Pierre-Etienne Cizeron, CEO of Epic Communications Limited, to discuss the company’s rapid evolution, its focus on technology and customer experience, and how Epic is positioning itself at the forefront of Malta’s digital future.

Since rebranding from Vodafone Malta in 2020 under the ownership of Monaco Telecom, Epic has been on a mission to transform Malta’s connectivity landscape. With over three decades of telecom heritage and now part of a group operating across 25 countries, Epic combines global expertise with a deep local focus. Pierre-Etienne, who took over as CEO in 2022 after senior leadership roles in telecoms across Europe and Africa, is leading the company through a period of ambitious investment and expansion.

“Epic has been ranked the number one mobile telecom operator in Malta by the MCA,” Pierre-Etienne tells us. “This is thanks to the strong investment we made over the last few years — around €40 million — upgrading our network and installing the latest technologies such as 5G.” That investment has already paid off: Epic has been recognised internationally for its performance, winning back-to-back awards in 2023 and 2024 for the best mobile network and becoming the first operator in Malta to launch 10,000 Mbps fibre connectivity for fixed customers.

Providing the most secure, resilient and future-ready network is, as Pierre-Etienne puts it, “our key focus.” He continues: “It’s not just about coverage within Malta — it’s also about how we connect Malta to the world through submarine cables. We make sure our customers will never lose connection.” That commitment to reliability is especially critical in a country like Malta, he notes, where high tourism levels demand extra network capacity during peak seasons.

Epic’s success, Pierre-Etienne explains, is not built on marketing slogans but on performance. “Our customers don’t need marketing claims — they need proof,” he says. “Recognition from the MCA and independent international organisations confirms that Epic offers the best network in Malta — and that’s what customers value.” Indeed, the numbers reflect that trust: in 2024, seven out of ten new customers chose Epic, largely because of its network leadership.

Looking ahead, Epic is focused on ensuring it can meet the surge in data demand driven by evolving user behaviour. “Data is becoming more and more important — more important than voice,” Pierre-Etienne explains. “It’s about speed, latency, and making sure every application on a smartphone works perfectly. That’s why we’re deploying 5G — to handle the strong increase in data consumption and deliver the best experience possible.”

For Pierre-Etienne, Epic’s mission extends beyond building a fast network — it’s about creating value and trust. “Providing the best service to our customers is our key focus,” he says. “It’s about a great network and great value. Our motto isn’t just words — it’s what we do every day.”

Epic’s story is one of transformation: from a legacy operator into a dynamic, customer-centric telecom brand that is shaping how Malta connects and communicates. Under Pierre-Etienne’s leadership, the company is investing heavily in next-generation infrastructure, expanding its fibre network, and setting new standards for reliability and performance — all while keeping customers at the centre of its strategy.

For MeetInc, conversations like these go beyond corporate milestones — they reveal how vision, leadership and technology converge to shape the future of entire industries.
