Malta’s gaming, esports, video game development and digital sectors received a major boost today as eight companies announced over €60 million in new investments and the creation of 1,300 high-quality jobs by the end of 2026.

The announcement was made during a roundtable event at Trident Park, where Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri met with senior executives representing leading global and local operators.

Minister Schembri said the scale and diversity of the projects confirm Malta’s growing strength in fast-evolving digital industries. He emphasised that technology-led sectors—ranging from esports to game development and digital marketing—are becoming central pillars of the country’s economic future.

In esports, Brazil’s major organisation Imperial revealed that it has chosen Malta for its main European office, which will open this December. Meanwhile, BLAST TV announced its plan to reach 3.2 billion followers by 2025 and is in the process of registering its Malta entity. The company will operate and host events from Malta, forming part of a €10 million investment over the next three years.

In video game development, global software giant Unity confirmed ongoing investment in educating and training young Maltese talent. The company aims to equip students and emerging developers with the skills needed to tap into the high-value careers being created in this fast-growing niche.

The digital marketing sector is also set to expand. Clever announced that it will open new offices in Gżira in the coming days, supported by a €6 million investment. The company has also invested a further €1.5 million into video gaming firm NARC. Gentoo Media has completed a €1.2 million investment in new facilities, enabling it to expand its team from 70 to 130 employees.

The iGaming sector continues to show strong momentum. Soft2Bet has invested €20 million over four years and opened its new offices in Mrieħel, with a focus on training more Maltese workers for the industry. Another operator, Religa, plans to scale its workforce from 200 to 700 employees by the end of this year through an investment of approximately €21 million. Eeze also announced a substantial €30 million investment covering offices, training programmes, and technological infrastructure, and will grow its team from 500 to 1,200 employees by early 2026.

Minister Schembri noted that Malta is now experiencing a wave of investment that goes beyond traditional iGaming, with emerging sectors—particularly video game development and esports—becoming increasingly prominent. He also encouraged gaming companies operating in Malta to support Maltese sports teams in the same way many currently sponsor foreign teams, helping strengthen local sports development.

Gaming Malta CEO Ivan Filletti praised the collaborative industry framework provided by the iGaming Council, calling today’s announcements clear proof of a strong, future-focused ecosystem aligned with Malta Vision 2050.

The combined investments reinforce Malta’s position as a competitive and attractive jurisdiction for digital and gaming-related industries, supporting long-term job creation, innovation, and economic diversification.
