The Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) congratulates Ms Wu Ziyan, its Higher National diploma student studying Tourism Management at the ITS satellite campus within the Zhengzhou Tourism College in China, on her team’s success at the World Vocational College Skills Competition held in Shanghai.
Ms Wu formed part of the team from the college’s Faculty of Tourism Management, which secured the Silver Award for its entry, ‘Carrying on the Legacy of Wheat: Safeguarding Food Security in Henan – A Research-based Course on Food Security’.
The entry placed the themes of wheat heritage and food security in Henan at the centre of a research-based course, bringing an important regional subject to an international competition. It also highlighted how tourism education can engage with cultural heritage and wider issues affecting communities.
For ITS, this achievement is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and talent of students studying at the ITS satellite campus in Zhengzhou. Ms Wu’s participation and her team’s success reflect the value of providing students with opportunities to apply their learning and showcase their abilities internationally.
