Iniala Harbour House and Residences in Valletta has become the first Maltese hotel to receive two Michelin Keys, as the Michelin Guide unveiled its debut selection of award-winning hotels for Malta on Wednesday night.
The honour places Iniala among the world’s most exceptional stays, recognised for its design, service, and extraordinary guest experience – marking a new milestone in Maltese hospitality.
The Michelin Key, which functions much like the Michelin Star for restaurants, celebrates hotels that deliver outstanding architecture, service, character, and value. Properties can receive one, two, or three Keys, with two Keys reserved for those offering “a truly unique experience, delivered with pride and care.”
Founder Mark Weingard said the award is a tribute to the team behind Iniala. “I want to congratulate my team, as well as my architects and designers, for helping us create a truly world-class hotel that has today been recognised with two Michelin Keys – a level that few hotels globally reach,” he said. “Next year, we’ll take Iniala Harbour House to an even higher level with 19 new suites, two new dining concepts, and the Iniala Club.”
The Valletta property, which includes Malta’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, spans several restored townhouses overlooking the Grand Harbour. It blends Maltese heritage with contemporary design and has become a benchmark for luxury travel on the island.
General Manager David Weingard described the recognition as “an immense honour” that celebrates both the hotel’s vision and its Maltese roots. “It acknowledges the successful fusion of visionary design, world-class service, and deep commitment to the Maltese Islands,” he said.
Iniala’s sister property in Thailand, Iniala Beach House, also retained its Michelin Key for the second consecutive year, cementing the group’s standing as a global leader in luxury hospitality.
With this latest accolade, Iniala remains the only hotel in Malta to hold both a Forbes Five-Star rating and two Michelin Keys – alongside the nation’s only two-Michelin-starred restaurant – redefining what world-class hospitality looks like from the heart of Valletta.
