HSBC Malta is nearing the completion of a nationwide upgrade of its ATM network, with all 62 machines across Malta and Gozo being replaced with newer, more advanced models. The project forms part of the bank’s wider investment in customer experience, accessibility and modernised banking infrastructure.
The new ATMs are designed to deliver enhanced performance, improved uptime and smoother everyday operation, ensuring customers can rely on faster, more stable service. Beyond technical improvements, the bank is also redesigning ATM sites to meet the latest accessibility standards, in full compliance with the requirements of the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD).
Upgrades include improved lighting, clearer signage, and machine layouts designed for ease of access. HSBC Malta worked closely with the CRPD to ensure lobbies and ATM areas are fully inclusive, allowing customers to access services comfortably and independently.
As part of the programme, several ATMs have also been relocated to more convenient locations in San Ġwann, Żabbar, Balzan, Żebbuġ, and soon Marsaskala. Additional new ATMs have been installed at key high-traffic spots including St Julian’s (Eden) and Sliema (Neptunes), with another planned for Bir id-Deheb as customer demand grows.
Muriel Rutland, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC Malta, said the upgrade reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering better everyday banking experiences. “We are investing in technology, infrastructure and new locations to make everyday banking simpler, faster and more inclusive for all our customers. These upgrades ensure that customers across Malta and Gozo can enjoy a seamless, reliable service whenever and wherever they need it.”
The ATM replacement programme marks a significant step forward in HSBC Malta’s ongoing investment in digital and physical banking channels, supporting its goal of offering more intuitive, accessible and customer-centric services nationwide.
