The Kamra tal-Periti has announced the finalists for the 2025 edition of the Premju Emanuele Luigi Galizia, Malta’s national platform celebrating excellence, leadership, and innovation in the built environment.
Launched in 2018, the Premju recognises the most compelling architectural, engineering, and design works shaping Malta’s cultural and physical landscape. This year’s edition, curated and led by I+A, looks to the future of the profession through a simple but resonant question: What would Galizia do?
The shortlisted projects reflect a balance between heritage sensitivity, sustainability, and contemporary design ambition. Finalists include practices such as EBEJER BONNICI, Amanche Architecture, 3DM Architecture, and Valletta-based teams behind The Verdala Terraces, GO Campus, and Teatru Salesjan — projects that reimagine living, working, and community spaces for Malta’s evolving needs.
The 2025 categories address Malta’s most pressing built environment concerns — from adaptive reuse and densification to infrastructure and wellbeing — while spotlighting emerging talent and professional role models.
Named after Emanuele Luigi Galizia, one of Malta’s most influential 19th-century architects and engineers, the award embodies his legacy of civic responsibility and disciplined creativity. As Superintendent of Public Works, Galizia shaped much of modern Malta’s infrastructure and architecture, from the Addolorata Cemetery and Victoria Gate to the Vincenzo Bugeja Institute.
Galizia’s legacy extends beyond architecture — it is rooted in ethics, duty, and leadership. The Kamra’s Premju continues to draw on this spirit, recognising those who combine design excellence with a deeper commitment to public purpose.
The 2025 winners will be announced later this year, honouring projects and individuals who have most successfully carried forward Galizia’s enduring principles — craft, integrity, and innovation in service of the public realm.
