Apple Music has opened a new live music venue inside Battersea Power Station in London, a 600-capacity space designed to bring artist and audience closer together without compromising on production scale.

The venue is called Apple Music Hall and its central premise is straightforward: every seat is positioned to feel close to the stage, yet the room is built to the technical standard an artist would expect on an arena tour. The stage runs 38 feet wide and can be reconfigured for conventional front-facing sets or in-the-round formats depending on the show.

According to Inkl, the hall is fitted with a 48-speaker spatial sound system arranged around the full audience area, so fans inside the room hear an immersive mix when an artist performs in spatial audio. Sixteen or more cameras feed a dedicated broadcast control room, with infrastructure that supports iPhone video capture running alongside conventional broadcast equipment. The practical upshot is that a performer can finish a show and leave with a broadcast-ready mix and a multicamera video recorded in a single session.

Two recording and mixing studios sit within the same building, making the venue function as a production facility as well as a concert space. All London-based Apple Music hosts and shows will broadcast from Battersea following the opening of new radio studios at the site.

Performances will be livestreamed globally, giving fans outside London access to events that are, by design, one-time-only. Apple Music vice president Oliver Schusser described the opening as an unprecedented step in the company’s commitment to artists and fans, backing live music in ways the company believes are unique to its platform.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy welcomed the announcement, describing it as a significant vote of confidence in the UK’s creative industries and pointing to the broader economic value those sectors generate.
