James Zammit has finalised the acquisition of Daniel’s Shopping Mall, marking one of the most notable commercial real estate transactions in recent months. Speaking to WhosWho.mt, Mr Zammit confirmed the deal and outlined his ambitious vision for the property’s transformation.
“We are grateful for the support of our stockbrokers and partner banks, who believed in the vision from the outset,” Mr Zammit said. “Daniel’s will undergo a comprehensive renovation programme — reimagining the entire shopping experience and transforming the mall into a modern, dynamic retail destination.”
The redevelopment will see a complete revitalisation of the complex, introducing 10,000 square metres of redesigned retail space, approximately 30 contemporary outlets, a modern supermarket, and upgraded underground parking facilities. The new design will also attract a range of leading high street and lifestyle brands, re-establishing Daniel’s as a landmark destination for shoppers.
According to Mr Zammit, the strategic goal is to position Daniel’s as the preferred central shopping hub, supported by a full rebranding process that reflects its new identity.

“The aim is not just to refurbish but to completely transform Daniel’s,” he explained. “We’re creating a space that blends convenience, style, and experience — a true hub for retail and leisure at the heart of the community.”
Earlier this month, Daniel’s announced the completion of its car park refurbishment and the opening of two new retail outlets: D Outlet, featuring brands such as Guess, Versace, Paul & Shark, Harmont & Blaine, Elisabetta Franchi, and Max & Co.; and Oud & Musk, a new fragrance store.
The redevelopment marks a major turning point for the shopping centre, which had been affected by the collapse of the More Supermarkets chain, whose main outlet previously operated within the mall.
Under Mr Zammit’s ownership, Daniel’s Shopping Mall is now poised for a new era focused on modern retailing, innovation, and enhanced customer experience.
