Since 2012, online platform DealToday has spoilt us rotten with the best deals for services related to hospitality, wellness, travel and leisure. The portal is now Malta’s leading daily discount platform, with Lovin Malta as one of its leading recent stakeholders
MeetInc, Malta’s newest online business platform aimed at connecting the best minds in the industry, sat down with Co-Founder Lars O’Connell, who shared his journey in Malta with DealToday over the past 12 years.
O’Connell describes the concept behind DealToday as rather common throughout Northern Europe and Scandinavia. Upon his arrival in Malta in 2012, Lars was quick to spot a space in the market for such a business. He also says DealToday pushes for a “win-win situation for the business and the customer. Customers need to get the best deals possible and businesses need the brand exposure and the business”.
The latest MeetInc interview will also touch upon what 2024 has in store for the platform, including further investments in technology and incorporating AI in day-to-day processes and marketing strategies for better results.
Lars O’Connell also talks about how one’s personality can be an asset in business and advises youths to take good note of their gut feeling. “If we are talking about something that is data- driven, numbers don’t lie, but gut feelings are important when doing business with people. If I am not happy with something, I tend to not do it”.
Asked about remote working, O’Connell said that a hybrid model works best as it tends to get the most out of employees. “You have more flexibility with free time. For me, HR now is a lot more about making sure that the people you work with are dedicated and motivated. I think one of the ways of doing that is by giving people more freedom, but at the same time give them more
responsibility”.
With a Lovin Malta partnership, tech improvements and new product launches on the horizon, the future is set to be bright for DealToday, and MeetInc will be there to cover every step of the journey
