PG Group has announced plans to open a new shopping mall and supermarket within db Group’s massive City Centre Project, currently under development at the former Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) site overlooking St George’s Bay, on the St Julian’s–Pembroke border
The development, expected to be completed in 2026, will include a PAVI-PAMA supermarket as its anchor tenant, along with a mix of retail outlets, catering establishments, and a car park for patrons.
The project is being undertaken through DB Gauci Shopping Mall Limited, a subsidiary of PG, which signed a preliminary agreement with db’s San Gorg Property Limited in November 2024. The deal grants the property to PG on a sub-emphyteusis basis, subject to the fulfilment of final conditions.
In a statement, PG said the project has now reached a more advanced stage and that both parties have shown intent to finalise the deed. The group added that it will continue to update investors as progress is made.
PG Group already operates two of Malta’s largest supermarkets – PAVI in Qormi and PAMA in Mosta – as well as several popular international fashion outlets, including Zara. The new mall is expected to significantly expand its retail footprint, while also strengthening its property base within Malta’s competitive commercial sector.
