Olea Venture Partners, a healthcare and life sciences-focused investor, has taken a stake in EBO, the Malta-founded artificial intelligence company, as EBO looks to scale its technology across international healthcare markets.
The investment is earmarked for three priorities: broadening uptake of EBO’s platform among healthcare systems and providers, extending the technology into new clinical and operational workflows and funding further expansion across Europe and into the United States.
According to a post shared on Instagram, EBO was founded and continues to be led by chief executive Gege Gatt. The company builds AI-powered tools designed to handle patient engagement and workflow automation for healthcare organisations, covering tasks such as appointment management, self-assessments and patient pathway communications, work that would otherwise demand significant administrative resource.
The backing from Olea is a meaningful signal of confidence in EBO’s direction. Olea focuses specifically on healthcare and life sciences, which means the investment brings more than capital: it brings sector-specific networks and credibility in markets where trust and regulatory familiarity matter.
For a company with Maltese roots, the planned push into the United States in particular marks an ambitious step. US healthcare is fragmented, heavily regulated and competitive, but it is also the largest market of its kind in the world and appetite for automation tools that reduce administrative burden has grown considerably in recent years.
EBO’s core proposition sits squarely in that demand. By automating routine but high-volume patient interactions, the platform aims to free up clinical and administrative staff while keeping patients better informed and better supported through their care pathways.
The company has not disclosed the financial terms of the investment.
