Last Friday marked a proud milestone for Cher Engerer, dedicated founder and Clinical Director of Polaris, who took home the Bronze Award for Female Entrepreneur of the Year – a title she admits she never imagined would one day be hers.
“I always thought business was about greed and exploitation,” Cher reflected. “But along the way, I learned that a business can be the hub of creativity, purpose, and love.”
What began as a heartfelt desire to help people has grown into a thriving service – and a community – dedicated to transforming lives. For Cher, the award represents far more than recognition: it’s a tribute to years of grit, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in the power of meaningful work.
“There are days when I dream of an easier life,” she shared, “but what keeps me going is knowing that our formula works – that me and the incredible team at Polaris are genuinely changing lives. If that isn’t a life worth living, I don’t know what is.”
Cher extended heartfelt thanks to her clients, spanning 23 years of trust and shared stories, and to the talented professionals who believed in her “crazy vision” and became like family. She even expressed gratitude to those who doubted her, saying each rejection only strengthened her resolve.
Polaris has carved out a unique niche in Malta’s mental health landscape. Polaris provides bespoke, client-led care to individuals and organisations – in a welcoming, non-clinical environment – with a strong focus on destigmatising mental health and achieving tangible results within 3–6 months.
