Anton Buttigieg has been appointed senior advisor at Trust Stamp, the US-based digital identity verification company listed on the Nasdaq.

Buttigieg brings extensive experience in international trade and economic development to the role. He spent close to a decade as chief executive officer of TradeMalta, where he played a central role in supporting Maltese companies expanding into overseas markets and strengthening Malta’s trade relationships.

In addition to his work at TradeMalta, Buttigieg has held senior positions at a European level, including serving on the board and as vice president of Trade Promotion Europe. His career has focused on trade policy, export promotion and international business development, working closely with both private enterprises and public institutions.

At Trust Stamp, Buttigieg will take on an advisory role, contributing strategic guidance as the company continues to scale its digital identity solutions internationally. Trust Stamp specialises in privacy-first identity verification technologies, using advanced cryptography and artificial intelligence to enable secure and ethical identity management across sectors such as financial services, healthcare and humanitarian aid.

The appointment adds further depth to Trust Stamp’s international outlook and regulatory engagement, areas that are becoming increasingly critical as digital identity systems gain wider adoption across jurisdictions.

Trust Stamp has maintained a strong connection to Malta over recent years. In 2022, the company became the first tech start-up with a Malta base to list on Nasdaq, trading under the ticker symbol IDAI. The milestone was widely seen as a significant moment for Malta’s technology and innovation ecosystem, highlighting the island’s growing role as a base for globally oriented tech firms.

Since its public listing, Trust Stamp has continued to develop its platform and expand its international footprint, operating in a regulatory environment that places increasing emphasis on data protection, digital trust and cross-border compliance.

Buttigieg’s appointment comes at a time when companies operating at the intersection of technology, regulation and international markets face growing complexity. His background in trade promotion and policy is expected to support Trust Stamp as it navigates global expansion and engages with partners, institutions and regulators across multiple regions.
