KM Malta Airlines will start flying directly between Malta and Bordeaux from 1st April 2027, adding the southwestern French city to its Summer 2027 network. The service will run twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, giving passengers a direct link to Bordeaux and the wider Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.

The Monday flight leaves Malta at 6.35pm and lands in Bordeaux at 9.15pm, with the return departing Bordeaux at 10.05pm and arriving back in Malta at 12.35am. On Thursdays, the outbound flight departs Malta at 6.45am and reaches Bordeaux at 9.25am, while the return leaves Bordeaux at 10.15am and arrives in Malta at 12.45pm. The journey takes around 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The route will be flown by the airline’s Airbus A320neo aircraft, which it says offers better fuel efficiency and a lower noise footprint than previous-generation planes. Bordeaux is known for its historic architecture, its wine region and its cuisine and acts as a gateway to the rest of Nouvelle-Aquitaine for short breaks and longer stays alike.

Chairman David Curmi said the route strengthens the airline’s links with France and gives travellers more choice in both directions. Bordeaux Airport Chairman Simon Dreschel welcomed the connection, calling it an important addition that will support business and cultural tourism between the two regions.

The new route follows the airline’s largest summer schedule so far, unveiled in February 2026. That programme set out 7,948 flights across 19 routes, an average of 262 weekly flights, 1.34 million seats and a new Tel Aviv service. KM Malta Airlines is the second biggest carrier in terms of operated flight routes to Malta.

The expansion comes as the government holds talks with several airlines over a strategic partnership for KM Malta Airlines, raised in the Budget 2027 discussions. Flights to Bordeaux will be sold through the airline’s website, mobile app, travel agents and authorised sales channels.
